Eugène BOUDIN 1824-1898

It was in 1870 that Eugene Boudin set off to explore Belgium, then settled in Antwerp in the summer of 1871, where he produced around thirty paintings... "among the most beautiful he ever painted," according to some critics.
Just like our oil painting, he devoted himself fully to his favorite themes: skies!
Very different from those of his native Normandy, the skies of Antwerp are more stormy, with clouds that come and go... laden with rain or calling for the sun... Boudin shows us once again that he is the undisputed master of marine atmospheres and meteorological beauties, as the writer Charles Baudelaire stated.
