Joan Miró
One of the greatest creators of the twentieth century, original, with a new look and poetic pictorial language.
Signs and figurations (Signes et figurations) is part of an eponymous series that Miró also liked to nickname Graffiti on tar paper (Grafitti sur papier goudron).
While directing this series, Miró lead a happy life and enjoyed growing artistic success. Worried by the political turn of the surrounding world, his style was liberated and became wilder. He brought the biomorphic figures that constitute his language to life. With flat colors, Miró reconstructed a landscape that became surreal or even grotesque.
With the Signs and Figurations (Signes et figurations) series, Miró marked the beginning of a new style and moved even further away from figuration.
