Signac, du Noir à la Couleur (Paul Signac, from Black to Color) : Exhibition at the Gallery
Black and White drawings, ink works and large-scale wash drawings have always played an essential role in the genesis of the works of Paul Signac, the great colourist.
They are the common thread of our exhibition, the third dedicated to Signac by Galerie de la Presidence.
- As an opening piece, you discover "The Woman with a Muff", this extremely rare black and white drawing by Georges Seurat, he executed circa 1884 for one of the famous figures in "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" (Collection of The Art Institute of Chicago). It should be noted that our drawing originally came from the personal collection of Paul Signac.
- Then the exhibition develops around a set of 29 works by Paul SIGNAC, most of which have never been exhibited before: a Conté crayon drawing from 1887, several large panoramas in ink wash, oils on canvas, watercolors and ink drawings or charcoal.
