VERT
Palettes de printemps
From March 14 to April 30
Galerie de la Présidence is going green!
Like a Prévert-style list, neo-impressionist, nabis, fauve, cubist, surrealist, figurative and abstract artists exhibit their spring palettes.
Like nature, which regenerates and adorns itself with its best finery and colors, the works on display are an exaltation of light and color.
In this season, vegetation takes on all shades of green. A source of oxygen and also a source of life. Green embodies freshness, energy, and the future. Present on all artists’ palettes, it is painters’ oxygen!
In the works presented, the compositions come to life and pulsate. The undergrowth is similar to lungs. The landscapes breathe fresh air. Still lifes exhale their scents. A sense of well-being invades us.
Green makes us dream. By ignoring reality, it invites us to meditate.

GEER VAN VELDE
Contemplation Works
From September 20 to October 30, 2021
This exhibition presents four oils on canvas and around twenty works on paper.
It is accompanied by a catalog with a text by Pierre François Moget, specialist of the artist.
The Dutch artists Geer and his brother Bram first learned the profession of painter decorator, but very soon they were convinced that their true vocation was to become artists.
In 1925, the two brothers settled in Paris and started life as bohemian and penniless artists.
In 1937, Geer van Velde befriended Samuel Beckett, who got him a first exhibition at Peggy Guggenheim’s brand-new London gallery.
In the summer of 1938, Geer van Velde moved with his wife to Cagnes-sur-Mer with a view of the Mediterranean. During the six years spent in this village, he developed the elements of his future work with an increasingly abstract formal vocabulary. He organized his composition of space and light according to rules that became clearer, step by step.
In 1944, he returned to Paris and settled in Cachan where he remained until his death in 1977. The theme of workshops became the essential subject of his work, a new source of inspiration, a new light. It is the place par excellence of the painter’s intimacy with his creation…

Un œil moderne
A modern look
From March 15th to May 31st 2016
Albert Marquet is originally from Bordeaux. roughout his life he had a passion for the sea and rivers and was attracted to a simple life. A discreet, quiet and shy child, he became interested in drawing at a young age. His mother therefore decided to come and live in Paris in order to enrol him in a specia- lized school. Marquet entered the École des Arts Décoratifs in 1892 and thus began his training. In this school, he met Henri Matisse with whom he became friends. As early as 1894, Paul Baudoin, Albert’s professor, asked Gustave Moreau to welcome his student in his course at the École des Beaux-Arts. There, the young artist met those who along with Matisse, became his best friends – Camoin, Manguin, Puy…
