The Galerie de la Présidence lends works by Eugène Boudin to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, for the exhibition “Monet / Boudin”
Musée Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid
From June 26th to September 30th, 2018
This pioneering monographic exhibition addresses the human and artistic relationship between Claude Monet and Eugène Boudin.
The curator Juan Ángel López-Manzanares choosed a hundred works to review their careers and show the origins of the impressionist movement.

Permanently represented by Galerie de la Présidence, Eugène Boudin was a precursor of painting in the open air, at a time when the official painting was done in a workshop. In 1860, he began to paint he beach scenes called crinolines, which were the source of his fame. He is recognized as the uncontested master of marine atmospheres and meteorological wonders, as Baudelaire said.
Claude Monet said about him :
“…if I became a painter, I owe it to Boudin”.
